Carolina Packers (Bright Leaf)

Carolina packing company, as it was originally called, was founded in Smithfield, North Carolina by John A Jones and a group of local businessmen in December of 1941. For the next 50 years they processed locally grown beef and pork into hams, bacon, sausage and the Famous Bright Leaf Hot dogs, bologna, red hots and smoked sausage.

People often wonder were the name Bright leaf came from , it is a recognition of the agricultural heritage of north Carolina and the domination of the tobacco industry during their early years. Over the years they have remained loyal to the traditions that have made them famous for over seven decades and their commitment to providing good tasting wholesome products has remained constant.
