Hot Dogs 101, it's all about Hot Dog basics. While some may think it is silly (not me, I want to go) there actually is a Hot Dog University! That is their logo above and it is run by the Vienna Beef Company. While I do not have my degree yet from Hot Dog "U" I can impart some basic knowledge that can help you understand and decipher some of the Hot Dog code and lingo. While most would think, what is so complicated about a hot dog, let me just say that just like anything else in life the more you know about something, the more you appreciate how amazing it truly is. The Hot Dog has it's own language, variations, sizes, rules and even controversies. One thing is for sure though we love them!
As you can clearly see by the chart on the left, just kidding! While I will not pretend that Hot Dogs are like learning brain surgery or to become a nuclear physicist, there is more to them than meets the eye. A lot of people are not even aware that there is a difference between a frank, a weiner and a hot dog. They are also unaware what a 10/1 or 4/1 tag means or that there is actually an acceptable number of bites it should take to eat a hot dog, and lets not even get started talking about the whole Ketchup controversy or dare I say chicken lips!
