Attendants purchase tickets and are provided with all you can eat hot dogs, ice cream, and entertainment for a great cause.The Phantom Gourmet Hot Dog Safari was founded by the great Eddie Andelman in 1989. It began as a simple bus tour for two hundred people seeking the best hot dog in New England. Eddie, known as “The Godfather of Sports Talk Radio”, grew the Safari bigger and bigger until it became one of the top family friendly events of the year, while raising millions of dollars for the Joey Fund and Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
The West Virginia Hot Dog Festival -
On Saturday, July 30th, 2005, the WV Hot Dog Festival was born. The festival raised $8000 the first year for the kids. With the valuable help of business sponsors, contest participants, volunteers, and festival-goers, the annual WV Hot Dog Festival has raised well over $100,000, all used to help children in treatment for cancer and other life-threatening illness in partnership with Cabell Huntington Hospital's Children's Hospital pediatric oncology unit.Raises money for the children's cancer unit of the Edwards Comprehensive Cancer Center. They host a car and truck show, hot dog eating contests, and many other hot dog inspired events.
Since one day is never enough for any true Hot Dog lover,it has been decided that July is National Hot Dog Month. According to the National Hot Dog and Sausage Council over 800 of our summer favorites will be eaten every second between Memorial day and Labor day . That is over 150 billion franks! I know I will be doing my part to beat that number this year.
